Serves as Branch Chief overseeing all natural resources management actions at the direction of and in support of the State Environmental Division Director and Federal Supervisory Environmental Specialist, responsible for implementing and administering a wide range of environmental natural resources management programs for Atterbury-Muscatatuck. Major program areas include forestry, wildland fire, habitat management/restoration, threatened and endangered species management and compliance, game and non-game species management, and invasive species control. Familiarity with cultural resources management, spatial data/GIS systems, surface waters, NEPA and/or heavy equipment would be beneficial. Responsibilities are state-wide and include a 35,000 acre training site, a 1,000 acre training site, a 6,000 acre impact area, over 200 acres of impoundments, over 200 acres of wetlands and 170 stream miles, over 20,000 acres of forest, nearly 7,000 acres of grassland, a 650 acre urban training site and a 650 acre cantonment/administrative area. The position ensures compliance with all environmental laws and regulations and provides long-term management and supervision for Atterbury-Muscatatuck environmental programs and personnel. The purpose of this position is to maintain or restore ecosystem services supportive of the military training mission.
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $75,010.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Public Health or a related field.
Seven (7) years of professional experience in an environmental science related field. At least two (2) years of the required experience must be in an administrative, leadership, managerial, or supervisory capacity.
Substitutions: Accredited college training may substitute for the required experience, except for the administrative, leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience, with a maximum substitution of four (4) years.
Thorough and extensive knowledge of theories, practices and principles of Environmental Management and related areas.
Working knowledge and application of the Occupational Safety and Health
Thorough knowledge of theories, practices, and principals of physical sciences (chemistry, biology, physics) as they relate to program area.
Thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations as they apply to program area and the ability to apply these in a variety of conditions and situations.
Ability to establish long- and short-term project management goals and objectives.
Ability to effectively interact with local, state, and federal groups and government representatives orally and in writing.
Ability to coordinate a work unit, reviewing and evaluating technical reports and data of staff.
Administration (OSHA) safety practices and procedures.
Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
