Witness-Experts specializes in connecting legal firms, NGOs, and government organizations with the most suitable expert witnesses for their unique cases. We ensure precise expertise to support critical legal matters with reliability and precision.

The Role

As a Radiologist Consultant Expert Witness, you will utilize your expertise in medical imaging to support legal cases on a freelance, case-by-case basis. Your responsibilities will include reviewing radiological reports, assessing imaging interpretations, and providing clear, evidence-based opinions to legal teams. You may also be required to present expert witness testimony in court to clarify complex radiological findings for legal professionals, judges, and juries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed reviews of imaging studies (e.g., X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds) and radiology reports in medico-legal cases.
  • Provide independent, evidence-based opinions on the accuracy of radiological diagnoses and adherence to professional imaging standards.
  • Assess whether radiological findings were appropriately interpreted and communicated to referring clinicians.
  • Offer expert witness testimony in court, explaining radiological findings and protocols in a clear and professional manner.
  • Consult with legal teams to help them understand radiological procedures, potential errors, and their impact on patient outcomes.
  • Stay updated on advancements in radiology to ensure your expert opinions remain current and relevant to legal proceedings.

Key Areas of Focus

  • Evaluate cases involving potential misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis due to errors in radiological interpretation.
  • Assess cases where improper imaging techniques, misinterpretations, or failure to follow up on findings may have led to patient harm.
  • Review adherence to national and international radiology standards, including the appropriate use of imaging modalities.
  • Analyze cases related to excessive radiation exposure, improper use of contrast agents, or failure to follow imaging safety protocols.
  • Present objective, evidence-based findings in legal proceedings, ensuring that complex radiology concepts are explained effectively.

Qualifications

  • UK medical degree with specialist certification in Radiology (e.g., FRCR or equivalent).
  • Extensive knowledge of diagnostic imaging, radiology best practices, and patient safety standards.
  • Proven ability to conduct in-depth analyses of imaging reports and deliver expert opinions for legal use.

  • Fully qualified Consultant Radiologist with extensive experience in diagnostic imaging and radiological reporting.
