Job Description

Our client is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented, and efficient Patient Access Specialist to join our team. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and welcoming experience.  

Patient Access Specialist Responsibilities:

• Greeting and assisting patients in a courteous and professional manner
• Verifying patient demographics, insurance information, and other necessary data
• Registering new patients and updating existing patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system
• Scheduling appointments, managing cancellations, and confirming upcoming appointments
• Collecting patient payments and processing co-pays
• Answering patient inquiries regarding services, billing, and other related information
• Obtaining necessary authorizations and referrals
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations
• Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth patient flow
• Performing other related duties as assigned

Patient Access Specialist Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1+ year of recent experience or demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software (specify software if applicable, e.g., Epic, Cerner, etc.)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of insurance verification and prior authorization processes is a plus
