The Engineering Apprentice job with Georgia-Pacific, Savannah River Mill, is designed for aspiring engineers who are seeking training, professional development/mentorship, exposure to operations leadership, and career growth. This role will help support innovation, process efficiency, equipment reliability, quality assurance, and more with an overarching focus on compliance, safety & health.
The Engineering Apprentice will work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with the potential for overtime as needed. The work schedule may vary based on the job assignment and could include: a day shift of Monday to Friday
or a rotating shift which Includes nights and weekends. The apprenticeship will begin Summer of 2025 (late May-early June). Our employees work in an industrial setting that can be hot, humid, cold, dusty, and noisy, and may require working around oil chemicals and other substances.
Our Team Our Savannah River Mill in Rincon, GA began operations in October 1986 and is considered a world-class operation in the industry. Five of the world's 12 largest tissue paper machines reside at the facility. Our operation is designed to produce products primarily from recycled fiber. We have over 50 converting lines that make the tissue, towel, and napkin products in our retail and away from home markets. We work to create mutual benefit and remove barriers to opportunity for our employees, customers, and communities.
What You Will Do - Operate basic production equipment and ensuring optimal performance
- Collect and analyze quality samples to maintain our production standards
- Collaborate with the Maintenance department to develop and implement maintenance plans
- Assist in troubleshooting production issues and identifying and proposing effective solutions
- Use clear written and verbal communication skills to articulate ideas and effectively collaborate with team members
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) - Current post high school acceptance and enrollment in an Engineering program
- Eligible for full-time employment on or before Summer 2025
