An enthusiastic and dedicated Veterinarian to join our dynamic team, working between the Brownsville Animal Shelter and the Gladys Porter Zoo. As Veterinarian, you will provide compassionate medical care to a wide variety of animals, ensuring their health and well-being through examinations, vaccinations, and routine surgical procedures such as spaying and neutering. Split between the animal shelter and zoo, you will play a vital role in improving animal welfare and public health while providing support in the innovative care of a diverse ensemble of 325 species of zoo mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish. Additionally, you will have opportunities to engage with the public, promoting responsible pet ownership and education on animal health.
This role is supported by a strong team of veterinary technicians and animal care attendants, along with mentorship and collaboration opportunities to help you succeed.
